We’re excited to unveil our new winter installation, a snowflake constellation suspended over Bute Robson Plaza, just in time for the holidays and Winter’s Dance #onRobson.
Three custom-designed snowflakes can be found intermixed in the overhead installation and while beautiful on their own, the larger ones are also enhanced with augmented reality features that trigger a flurry of special effects. To experience the full impact the free ‘Winter’s Dance‘ app must be downloaded from the Apple store. Open the app, hover your phone over the snowflakes and watch them come alive.
The official launch will take place tonight at 7 p.m. and will include music, a snow dome containing live dance performances, app demonstrations and treats. The snowflake display will remain in place throughout the month of December for all to enjoy.
Holiday festivities continue throughout the weekend with Winter’s Dance #onRobson. The third public art installation this year will feature the Music Box Dancers that will come to life in a burst of colour, light and music on the facade of the John Robson Building (1155 Robson). The light show repeats every 15 minutes from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
