Vancouver Events: Vancouver Mural Festival #onRobson

This summer is looking a little different for all of us, pushing us all to find new outdoor activities to keep ourselves socializing in a safe, physically distanced manner. We’re excited to announce a new summer activity for you to check out! The Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF) has expanded and reinvented its event for 2020, making Vancouver a new, open-air art gallery for all art lovers, with over 60 murals in 9 different neighbourhoods. We’re thrilled to be a part of the festival this year and to add 3 new murals #onRobson, bringing more colour, life, and vibrancy  to the street.

We will be collaborating with some amazing artists, each bringing their unique style and culture to the neighbhourhood. You can catch Edge, Ovila Mailhot and Fiona Ackerman  painting murals at 1168 Robson, 1046 Robson and 813 Burrard. Follow along on our social media channels to watch the murals come to life! We’ve also had the pleasure of having Katie So, WKNDRS, and Chriz Perez bring their beautiful art to our newly expanded sidewalks.

For those of you who loved the #MakeArtWhileApart murals as much as we did, you’ll be happy to know that we’ve brought back a few of our favourite pieces, now on display at 700 Bute Street on the Blue Horizon parking lot. Spend an afternoon strolling Eihu Lane to see the 5 murals and of course last year’s Canvas Corridor project, which transformed 45 drab laneway doors and vents into unique works of art. Also make sure to stop by at sunset to enjoy a special #MakeArtWhileApart video projection featuring cool video footage of the murals and artists. Projections will happen nightly for the duration of Vancouver Mural Festival (Aug. 18 – Sept. 7).

P.S. you can catch the projections from Earls’ back patio while enjoying a cocktail or two! 😉 *projections will be weather dependent

Find and learn about all the murals with the brand new Vancouver Mural Festival Mobile App. Download the VMF App free from the App Store or Google Play for mural locations, artist details, photos, interactive maps with filters, plus curated collections highlighting Indigenous art, massive walls, community projects, family fun and more!

Get ready to hop on your bike or lace up your runners and take a tour around downtown’s urban art gallery, now until September 7th! Check out vanmuralfest.ca and @vanmuralfest for details, neighbourhoods and updates.
