Summer is in full swing (and sweat) #onRobson (holy, has it been hot, hot, hot)! But as we’re getting ready to bid adieu to July, we’re also welcoming the month of August with open arms. August always starts off with a bang, as the Honda Celebration of Light takes over the English Bay skies and the Annual Vancouver Pride Parade makes its way down Robson Street. Be sure to include both on your summer bucket list.
Honda Celebration of Light – August 1 & 4
Team South Africa took to the barge this past Saturday as a part of the Honda Celebration of Light and lit it up! In case you missed it, there are still two remaining nights of spectacular fireworks left.
On Wednesday, August 1st, Team Sweden will let their sparks fly, followed by Team South Korea on Saturday, August 4th. The 25-minute pyrotechnic displays begin at 10 p.m. each night, but the festivities start much earlier at English Bay and Second Beach. Enjoy music, food, air shows, kids activities and more.
For the first time ever, the public voted on a theme for this year’s fireworks competition and “Love” was selected – so, we guess you could say that the Vancouver summer skies will be full of love for the next few weeks!
Vancouver Pride Parade – August 5
One of Vancouver’s most anticipated summer events is just around the corner! The 40th Annual Vancouver Pride Parade is taking place this upcoming Sunday, August 5th from 12PM – 3PM starting at Robson and Thurlow. The route continues down Robson to Denman, and turns onto Beach Ave where it will finish as it merges with Pacific. But not to worry, the celebrations don’t end there. The fun will continue at Sunset Beach with a Main Stage, Community Zone, Family Fun Zone, beer garden, food trucks, interactive art, plus much more.
The Pride Parade is a staple of the Vancouver summer calendar, and with 130+ parade entries, there will lots of amazing, colourful floats you won’t want to miss. Head down early to get your prime viewing spot #onRobson.
