In partnership with Tourism Vancouver, we’re excited to be one of 10 participating neighbourhoods in the Build Back Tourism 2021 Challenge. Kicking off on May 1st, tourism industry professionals and volunteers will have the opportunity to safely visit and experience the best of Vancouver’s participating neighbourhoods, as well as enjoy the region’s awesome attractions.
As a featured neighbourhood, we have created a fun Scavenger Hunt #onRobson to welcome back our tourism industry friends to explore our hood and see what’s new and exciting! On each block between Burrard and Jervis, hidden treasures are waiting to be found.
- Butterfly Kiss Mural (1046 Robson) – Located just off of Robson and Burrard near Zara is a colourful piece created by Coast Salish artist, Ovila Mailhot. In this mural, the butterfly symbolizes change and beauty, much like Ovila’s growth as an artist. Be sure to snap a pic before you head to your first stamp location at Vancouver’s original gift shop, Canadian Crafts, which has been offering unique gifts and souvenirs since 1979 (you must show the staff member your photo in order to get the stamp).
- Flower Crown Mural (1168 Robson) – Robson Street’s most popular mural can be found tucked away close to Bute Robson Plaza. Flower Crown, a breathtaking piece by Ejiwa Ebenebe a.k.a Edge, celebrates Black tranquility, happiness and presence. Trust us, you’ll want a photo of this incredible piece, which you can then share to get your next stamp. Look for the colourful storefront beautifully painted by local artist Tierney Milne where you’ll also find PLENTY of beautiful outfits.
- D’oro Parklet (1222 Robson) – What is pink, white and ice cream parlour inspired? The D’oro Parklet, of course, which is a public seating area/patio sponsored by the adjacent gelato shop. Snap your pic and head next door to Robson Street’s other sweet spot, The Candy Room, for your last stamp.
Enjoy your outdoor adventure #onRobson! The Build Back Tourism Program runs until September 30, 2021, so no need to rush. While #onRobson, be sure to check out our many outdoor public spaces, such as our Parklets and of course, Bute Robson Plaza. They are the perfect places to relax, soak up the sun and enjoy a bite to eat from one of the many restaurants or cafes, al fresco style.
